Course Projects

Welcome to our course projects section. Here, we showcase our academic projects, providing insights into our learning journey and experiences. Feel free to explore and learn more about our work.

Project 01: Decision Support with MS Excel

In this project, we developed a Decision Support System (DSS) in Excel to help a fictional bike shop analyze and improve its profitability. Using financial and accounting concepts like cost, markup, and gross profit, we built dynamic spreadsheets with accurate formulas and absolute cell references. We created charts to visualize performance and ran what-if analyses by testing three different business strategies adjusting costs, pricing, and markup. Based on the results, we evaluated each scenario and provided a well-supported recommendation for the most effective and realistic path to increase the shop’s profits.

Project 02: Power BI Dashboard

In this assignment, we explored business analytics and data visualization using Microsoft Power BI. We learned how to identify key performance indicators and use multidimensional data structures such as dimensions and measures to analyze business activities. By working with a large dataset from Global Bikes Inc., we created interactive visualizations that answered real business questions, such as which products or quarters generated the most revenue or incurred the highest costs. Throughout the process, we developed skills in building professional data reports, applying filters and slicers, and customizing charts for clear insights. This assignment helped strengthen our ability to make data-driven decisions and communicate findings visually and effectively.

Project 03: Infographics

Over the course of the semester, we developed a series of infographics based on assigned case studies, each one reflecting the key concepts and lessons from our class sessions. After each lecture, we synthesized the material by answering relevant questions and transforming our understanding into clear, visually engaging summaries. This process not only helped reinforce our learning in real-time but also served as an effective study tool when preparing for exams. By reviewing our infographics, we were able to revisit complex ideas in a simplified format, making it easier to retain information and apply it critically.
